Tweet Comments and Flash Sale!

My tweet son was supposed to pick two winners last night. The truth is... I sent him to bed a little early :)

CORINNA and BARBARA  please send me your e-mail ( I will be happy to send you my super tweet product tonight. I promise to stay up until I hear from you :)

How do I teach them about rows and columns?
This is what I tell them:
Rows: Imagine yourself at the movie theater sitting in organized rows. One person sitting next to another one. Sitting in rows.
Columns: The word column has a letter l that goes up and down, like columns do. I also mention the columns that support our classroom; the beams that support the walls which go up and down :)  Hope that helps!

You will find practice cards to help your kiddos with the labeling and counting of rows and columns included in this product.

Flash sale anyone?!  20% off today and tomorrow.  Find it HERE.

Happy Monday!

Tweet Arrays

I am back...breaking the double post rule a day . I could not wait to show you what my kids did this week!  It is very Tweet :)

We started with using many of the manipulatives we have in our classroom. Labeling row s and columns. Defining arrays (pre-assessment).
Created array books, used array task cards and took a few post-assessments....and so much more!

According to my kids an array is... (I copied these from their assessment sheets).
- Soldiers lined up in rows
- Organized ways of putting something away
- Something that is put together in rows and columns and it can help you count good
- Some rows and columns that are put together and help you count stuff
- A quick and organized of arranging something
- It has rows and columns and looks like an army of soldiers

I see a theme here....rows, columns and soldiers :)  Not sure what I said about soldiers, but it made a great impression.

Something so tweet!  Find here.
You can find all of these in there :)

What do you think?

My tweet son will help me pick a winner. Leave me some love. I will pick 2 winners tomorrow night.

I'm Using a Hall Pass (Linky)

Grab a hall pass and come share with Reagan!
I was looking at all my posts, and apparently linky parties are my forte :) I am going to have to show you that I really do teach... one of these days :)

Product: My Share Your Opinion was a huge hit in my classroom. The kids impressed me with their ability to write opinion writing pieces.  I had a chance to read why they love certain things and dislike others supported by details and amazing vocabulary.
I had a chance to use many of my ThistleGirl graphics. I  loved everything about it!
Area: I love my vocabulary bulletin board. We read a book a week, choose 3-5 vocabulary words to talk about. Why do I love it?  I see my kids using the new vocabulary in their writing. I also hear them trying to get all fancy on me when they are having snack and during our class conversations.  I am thrilled!

Signal: This mini xylophone sits on my desk. It is a signal I use for transition time. If they hear it, they know to stop doing whatever they are doing and listen for directions. It works!

Sanity: My team keeps me sane.  This year we have six amazing people working together. I have been extremely lucky to work with great mentors and friends since the beginning of my career. I can always count on them to allow me to vent, to support me, to mentor me and to put up with my crazy ideas...and hormones :)
Movies also keep me sane. I love watching movies...alone. It calms me down :)

Thanks to Corinna for the beautiful background paper.

100th Day, 100th Post... Giveaway and BOGO

This girl had a long week. A fun one. But long. 75 days to go!  The only problem I have with that, is that my babies are finally growing up. I feel like I am actually teaching and not just training. Anyone with me?

We celebrated our 100th Day of School on Monday. I have to admit this day it is one of my favorites. No special reason.
I have always done a bit of this and a bit of that. This year I created this.
You can find it HERE :)

23 activities took us two days to complete!  Don't tell anyone :)
As much as I like to follow the pacing guide...well... it was all about celebrating. I am two days behind and sure I will find a way to catch up!

As I type this post I realize it is my 100th post. So I must celebrate with you.
- If you buy one product from my TPT store I will send you one for free.

Graphics and Borders

So... I must confess. I did not buy much this past Sunday. Even though I spent my day on the couch, my spending spree on TPT began after the game was over.

I am not pretty good about planning ahead. I seriously feel like a live day by day and plan week by week. It is very hard for me to buy something just because I may use it later. I admire all of you who can think like that. I want to be like you!

Every time I see new graphics or borders I get just a tiny bit excited. I had to buy some :)
Find them here: Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Designs,  Creative Clips, Clipart Factory.

I have to take a minute to brag about Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Designs. Her graphics are A-mazing and her customer service is outstanding.  Talented and super sweet (she did not pay me to share this with you).
She is now one of top 3 favorite designers (ThistleGirl and Ashley Hughes are my other two).

Wondering if she could use an intern. I am free this summer :)

Please visit her shop. Show her some love by following her. I promise you her stuff is quality.

Shapestache Week.

All the single ladies, all the single ladies.... I guess I will be singing that for a while :)

Kids just went to bed. Bath time was delayed a bit. My daughter had a few new 'moves' thanks to 'all the single ladies'. I guess I am going to have to send them to bed earlier next year.

I promised to show you my latest. The kids loved the mustaches! I took some pictures of them with a mustache...but I can't post that. Just picture it :)
Here we go... picture style.

What do you think? Geometry at its best...isn't it? LOL.

Hubby got extended. Many of his coworkers are 'sick' so he did not make it home tonight. I guess we will have our yearly nacho night a day later.

49ers are waking up...gotta go.

Geometry (2-D shapes) and Sale.

I just posted my latest product on TPT. I am so ready for the sale tomorrow!

The kids and I have been playing with shapes for the last two weeks.

Find it here.

I will be back tomorrow to show you pictures of my students using all of these.

The Mr. went to work today. He had been home sick with some kind of cold/flu. I drove him to the airport trying to be a nice wife. We made the kids do all the chores we could think of, they were hyper today!

Hope you are ready for the big sale tomorrow. I am on my way to decide how many of the 72 items on my wish list I can actually afford :)
Thanks for the button Ashley!

Observation, Valentine's Freebie and February Currently

After our crazy week last week, my observation was postponed. I usually rather not know when they are coming. It is easier for me to just do my thing. On Wednesday I got observed during literacy. Can I tell you how good my kids made me look? They were perfect!
I was working with a group of three girls on comparing and contrasting two stories. The rest of the class was doing the same thing in small groups. You could hear their amazing conversations. My heart was smiling nice and big :)

Freebie: I am getting ready to make Valentine's goodie bags for the kids before Target runs of pencils, erasers, stickers... I made these.
Please come and download here and if you can...leave me a love note. I'd LOVE that!

February Currently has arrived. Farley gives me a chance to reflect and I love sharing it with you.

I grew up learning that no matter what...manners were very, very  important (Do I sound old?). It makes me sad to see how manners are becoming extinct.  Say your please and thank yous :) It means a lot.
