About Me

I was born and raised in Mexico City. My small family loves to get together and celebrate something, anything, just because. My fondest memories are playing cards until dawn and learning how to dance.
My family recalls me teaching since I was very young. I clearly remember mimicking my teachers as soon as I got home from school. I had a desk, a class list, a blackboard, chalk, plastic high heels, and invisible students.
A week after my 18th birthday, I rode my first airplane ever and headed to Northern Kentucky to live with my aunt and her family.
I attended ESL classes for 3 years and worked hard on learning a second language. I have plenty of funny stories to share about those days.
Forward to May 2004 Graduation Day - one of the proudest moments of my life!
A phone interview for a second-grade position in North Carolina and a quick move from Newport, KY to Durham, NC allowed me to live my dream.  I have been teaching second grade ever since.
I married an amazing guy who supports my crazy ideas and is by far the best father my children could have ever asked for.  We lost our sweet fourteen-year-old pup a few years ago. She stole our hearts the day we met her.
I respond to "mommy, mom, or mother" of a twelve-year-old boy who loves Minecraft; and a seven-year-old daughter with the greatest personality.
I have more than I ever dreamed of: an amazingly supportive husband, two healthy beautiful children, a job I love, and a tremendous group of friends and coworkers.

I look forward to sharing my little classroom adventures and learning from all of your amazing ideas. Teacher bloggers are so inspiring!
