Currently April

It is almost April, right? Farley's Currently is back and there goes my productive night :)

Listening: I had planned to have a productive night. Instead I will be commenting on many blogs tonight :)  The Good Wife is on and honestly, I am not paying much attention.

Loving: Today I woke up (late) and felt the need to clean my super messy house. The downstairs is sparkly clean (I hope the hubby notices). Both of the kids helped. Can I tell you how nice it is to clean with two little helpers? Thank goodness they are getting older.

Thinking: We decided to delay our Easter celebration a few days. I am thinking about decorating the kids toy room like crazy and surprise the kids when they come home from school. I can.not wait!

Wanting: I want a magic wand that allows others to feel better. My brother broke up with his girlfriend. He is all depressed. The best man at our wedding is in bad shape. I want to know why unfair things happen to good people. I want to make it better!

Needing: I have more than a few unfinished projects ready to post on TPT. I am going through some kind of TPT block. Heeeeeelllllppppp!!! Maybe it is because I am tracked out and my guinea pigs are not around.

Advice: I am not sure I have any good advice for you. The one thing I can say is 'to blog to share about your passion for teaching'.

Wedding and Spring Cleaning.

Happy Friday friends!  My daughter and I spent our Friday with a dear friend of mine and her kids. Their British accent is to die for.

I do not have any school related news... but I am sure you have heard many of us are doing some serious Spring Cleaning :)
Thanks Krista for the cute springy button.

My house is certainly getting a serious cleaning next week. I hope to show you a couple of rooms I have been dying to clean and organize. Label maker, here I come!
While that happens, I am certainly cleaning my TPT wish list. My little store will be on sale for two days.

Come and link up and clear out that wish list!

Thanks to MelonHeadz for the graphic.

My grade level chair and friend is getting married tomorrow...at a barn. I only hope it gets warmer around here and I can actually wear a dress. I found a dress I purchased last year and that is what I am wearing. I hope it fits!
My kids have a sitter since the hubby has to work. I am sure they are going to love her. I love her. She is out rocking technology teacher.
8:00 is bedtime around here tonight (for the kids). As soon as I hit publish I am going to try 'the' dress and hope for the best. The wedding is early. I do not have any time to shop, and plan B is something I do not want to think about.

Here comes the bride!

Maps and More Maps

I hope most of you are enjoying spring break. I have been enjoying my 'break', but spring has not arrived. NC has been chilly!

I am back to show you our maps and share a little document you may be able to use if you live in NC. Since I am not a great writer, I rather show you the goods through pictures.

Save your cereal boxes, cut them in half, staple and create classroom maps.
Before you begin, create a key so all of your maps are more or less uniform.
We decided to map out the biggest items. Then we chose the colors to use before I took out the construction paper.
Some finished samples

Moving on to Me on the Map - NC
I had a small group of kids do a bit of research. We wrote facts behind each circle.

IF you live in North Carolina and can use the circles to make this project. Download  HERE.
Would love your feedback :)

Easter Homework Passes (new ones).

I am always tracked out during Easter, and do not get to do crafty Easter things with my students anymore (boo!). Before I changed tracks, I used to do a huge measuring unit and celebrating with an Easter Egg Roll. I miss it.

The Mr. is working on Easter (yeap...he has missed every single holiday since November), so I need to come up with mommy Easter ideas.

I received a super sweet e-mail asking me to create Easter Homework passes that matched the other ones I have posted.
So.....
Download HERE :)

I hope you can use them!
I'd love to hear what you think and what you do for your students to celebrate Easter.

Five for Friday (My First!)

I am finally joining this party! My first Five for Friday with Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching.
Link up HERE:)

A friend of mine is having twin girls. During her baby shower I was asked to design a onesie and a diaper. I think they turned out pretty darn cute! Baby shower gifts and creations, surrounded by a whole bunch of teachers is my kind of fun. By the way, my friend has the most perfectly round circle bump you have ever seen. My bellies were never that perfect!

I am tracked out!  I seriously thought I was not going to make it. I am planning on relaxing as much as possible (some times I just can't help myself). My kids let me sleep in until 11:00 yesterday. Big brother feeds little sister and mommy sleeps :)

We made maps of our classroom (with keys). The kids enjoyed cutting, gluing and making a mess of my clean tables. I enjoyed teaching map skills. I seriously love social studies.

As part of our geography unit. I created a Me on the Map activity. I promise to write a post about our maps.

Have I told you how much I love my Vera backpack? I am a big 31 fan, but their backpacks are huge. So I had to go with plan B. I love having free hands to carry my other bags :)

What did you accomplish this week?

Right before graduation, I had a phone interview with a school in the area. We then decided to visit  the school and stay with my in-laws who live in Chapel Hill.
One sunny, hot, humid afternoon in June of 2004,  I met the second grade team, administration and reading specialist. Two hours later, I received my first job offer. I am pretty sure I screamed after I hung up the phone. I wanted second grade badly enough to move miles away.

Northern Kentucky had been our home for 11 years before that. We had a beautiful older home, which had been remodeled from top to bottom by my hubby. It was a beauty at the end. Sold it in 3 days!!!
We miss our friends, the snow (we LOVE snow), and our beautiful home.
I have to be honest, sometimes we regret the move. Sometimes we are not sure if this is home. But we have loved the weather, the closeness to the beach (2 hours away), the gorgeous mountains and the amazing friends we have made here.  Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends, right?

Sweet Tea? Sign me up!

created these icons. Not sure which one to choose for my blog. Which one do you like best?

Currently March

Leprechauns, gold coins, lucky numbers, rainbows, flowers and warmer temperatures are on their way.
But Farley is here today, marking the first day of the month.

I have not been able to stay awake on Thursday nights, so I am watching Grey's on my ipad while working and prepping for next week.

My track one buddies left today to enjoy their track out. That means I am next!  March 20 has been marked on my calendar. I think I can, I think I can.... :)

I began doing assessments to get ready for report cards, progress reports and paperwork galore! I am excited about conferences. I know, I know...but I just love to show growth...even a little growth makes me giddy.
My kids are growing up! I see the learning and I just want more from them each and everyday we have left together.

I am feeling yucky again. I spend the majority of my day in a very cold classroom. No one seems to get the heat to work properly. The nice guys who can't read a thermometer check the temperatures in our rooms say it is all fine. Trust me when I say...it is not....walk into my classroom and watch me wear my coat almost every day. NO fun :( I refuse to call in sick!!!!

Mom is visiting in the summer!  She is coming to help watch the kids and hopefully vacation with us. My kids attend traditional school and I teach  in a year round school. That gets crazy at the end of the year. I must buy tickets this weekend.

LIKE: T.V.  My name is Tania, and I am a couch potato.
LOVE: Tiramisu. My ultimate favorite dessert. I could eat one everyday and gain tons of weight.
HATE: Tantrums. Kids temper tantrums and adults. Sometimes I think adult tantrums are worse. I have a few of those and I dislike myself when I do.

Looking forward to meeting new friends this month. Thanks Farley, for the monthly opportunity.
