Just Pictures (Linky)

I lied... I have to write too :)

Hubby asked me to research ski places to visit this weekend. My Facebook friends were fabulous and gave me some great ideas. As a good wife, I did my research and sent the hubby all the links. Heard nothing back from him.
Today around 2 :00 I get an e-mail with a link to a nice hotel in Fort Lauderdale and a note saying: Pack your bags. We are on our way to the beach for some R & R.
I think the kids are coming, so I am not sure how much R & R we will get :)  It is time to shave my legs (TMI???), pack the bathing suits, and celebrate the rest of 2012.

Before I do that. I am linking up to Miss Nelson. I had been meaning to participate for months!

I do not have an Elf. I am sharing pictures from the week prior to Winter break.

We began this tradition three years ago. The boys stay home.
Apparently I have 21 nice students, and just a naughty one :)
For the last two weeks they wrote nice notes to each other.
Books picked based on interest.
Pure cuteness!
Santa forgot to read my wish list.
Happy Snapping!

One Sharp Pencil! (Giveaway)

Happy Wednesday Blooggy Friends!  I am recuperating from wrapping, unwrapping, eating a ton and spending my Tuesday on the couch.  The Mr. went to work and the kids and I enjoyed Santa's gifts along with a lot of TV watching, meals on the couch and pure laziness. Aaahhhhh.....I needed that.

This arrived in my mailbox...along with some bills. Let's concentrate on the good package and ignore the envelopes that take my money away from my checking account. :)

I have to say... I am VERY impressed. This guy beats the noisy, expensive one I have at school any day of the week. It is quick, quiet, and holly guacamole those pencils are sharp!!! See the difference?

My kids think this marvelous tool is staying home. Sadly, for them, this belongs in my classroom and they are going to have to say good bye to amazing looking sharp pencils.

I made some signs to share with you.  Download here.

Our Christmas Presents & Winter Sale

Today was my first day off and I spent it at the mall (not my favorite place). I stopped at 9:30 for a minute of silence for all the victims of last week's tragedy. Many tears and prayers for everyone who has been affected.

Since hubby is at work, I get to blog :)

Take a look at our Christmas presents.

I will let the pictures do the talking:

I am joining the sale too :)

Wishing for snow!

12 in '12

Gotta love a linky party!  Hadar and Kristen are hosting :)

12. Favorite movie you watched: A Little Bit of Heaven
Netflix and Redbox know me by name. I am such a couch potato and not very proud of it. I just enjoy TV way too much. Hubby loves documentaries, but they are always so depressing.
A Little Bit of Heaven

11. Favorite TV series: SVU & Modern Family. Could not choose just one.

10. Favorite restaurant: I guess it depends what kind of cuisine we are talking about :) If I have to choose one...
9. Favorite new thing you tried: Blogging. I have learned so much from many, many amazing bloggers.
My Second Sense

8. Favorite gift you got: ipad. Hubby really surprised me last Christmas. It took me 2 months to open it :)
7. Favorite thing you pinned: This Subway Print. I am living my dream...even though I kind of hate it around report card time :)
Disney <3
6. Favorite blog post: Our Mother's Day Project. The moms LOVED these cuties!

5. Best accomplishment: Posting my products on TPT.  It took me 6 months after I purchased my membership to post something. I wanted it perfect. I was so afraid. I still am. A bit.

4. Favorite picture: This amazing expression. She loved Disney World.

3. Favorite memory: Taking my daughter to her first day in kindergarten. Petite uniforms and exciting girls are just the perfect combination. Mommy had a few tears in the parking lot.

2. Goal for 2013: Give more. Work less. Spend more time with my family.

1. One Little Word: Family

Share Your Opinion!

On Monday, I began teaching Opinion Writing and all I can say is...it was A-mazing!!!   I guess we had been doing narrative writing for too long, because the kids rocked it. I am sure they were glad to try something new.

I decided to talk about something the kids were familiar with: Their favorite book character.

I wrote about him :)

On Tuesday,  I was observed (unannounced). The kids had created their hook and shared their opinions by then. We supported our opinion with facts and details.

Some of the charts we created.
The last picture is the final product .

My post observation went extremely well. I was very pleased with the grades and comments given by our interim principal.

I took it step by step. Modeled one thing at a time. Kids wrote. We shared. We edited. Repeat. Their first drafts were beyond fantastic!
We will do some editing, revising and write a final copy tomorrow. The rest of the week I have a variety of topics for them to practice with. After that, they get to use their brainstorming list we created on Monday.

In order to teach Opinion Writing, I created this product.

I love it. I really, really love it! I did some tweaking after teaching it. I did not wanted to put it out there without trying it out. Thanks to my amazing bloggy friend for reviewing this for me.

If my kids can write as well as they did, so can yours :) Find it HERE

Time to pick  someone who could LOVE this as much as I do.
Let's see... if you guess what my hubby does for a living I will send it to you for free!  I love guessing, don't you?  I think only one person who knows me personally can answer this. We will give her a serious talk if she spoils my guessing game. LOL.
Tiny hint: He wears a uniform to work.  Start guessing!

December Currently

What are you currently up to?  Farley's super famous linky party is here. Can't wait to read, comment, visit your blog and meet new friends.

My life is about to get busy! Report cards, assessments, standardized testing, Christmas celebration, on-line grades (which took my about 4 hours last quarter), Christmas shopping, house cleaning...

I love opening my Christmas boxes and looking at my collection of photo cards. I only keep the photo cards :)  I use the other cards for some of my geometry lessons. Will take some pictures this year.

We do send a family card every year. We have only done that since we had kids. Sometimes it is only the kids, some times the whole family. It depends if I can convince the hubby.

My kids are working on their Christmas list. My daughter keeps adding something every time she watches a new commercial (I better turn the TV off). My son has legos, legos, and more legos. We have plenty of legos! and trying to convince him to ask for something else has been a bit unsuccessful. The Mr. has a few clothing pieces for his climbing adventures, and so far, I have thought about a keyboard for my ipad ( I wish I had the mini one!), a camera bag, and a  laminator.

I have a dear friend or two in bloggy land. I am hoping to surprise them with something this holiday season. I feel their love and support every time we 'talk'. Is there anything you'll recommend?

My new principal starts Monday. Wish me luck! I miss my old one terribly and I just want to remain open minded.
