Summer (Track out) Bucket List

I worked in a traditional school for two years, and to be honest, I do not remember what I did those two summers.
I then joined a brand new year round school, where I work nine weeks and have three weeks off (more or less) all year round.  I truly, truly love it!
I have to admit though... a long summer break sounds great right now.
My break in July will be short...  less than three weeks if you count work days.  I then present to you...

My Summer Track Out Bucket List hosted by Teri, Hadar and April.
Summer Bucket List

1) Reread these two.  I implemented some D5 this year and last, but this coming year, I am looking forward to having my team join me.  I do better learning with others.
The Daily Five              The CAFE Book

2) Finish this one.
The Book Whisperer: Awakening the Inner Reader in Every Child [Book]

3) Entertain Spend quality time with my almost 10 year old son and almost 5 year old daughter. Plan their July and August birthdays sounds like a great idea!  I am always rushing :(

4) Create a Cafe/Craft board and all the mini lesson cards that go with it (at least for the first 9 weeks).

6) Clean my classroom

Shopping, sleeping in, family vacation... are just a few others that come to mind.  We'll see how much I get done :)

My Classroom and 12 on the 12th - May

Welcome to my classroom!  I have to confess... I only took some pictures since it is almost the end of the year (7 weeks to go).

Come and check it out here :)

On the other hand...

My first 12 on the 12th (May) with Doodle Bugs!  It was a busy day, and hubby thought I was crazy taking 'silly' pictures.  He really does not get me some times :)

1) Our big girl's (turning 5 soon) furniture arrived today.  I am pretty sure the entire neighborhood heard her. Her excitement surpassed her ability to use her inside voice (which she really does not have).
2) Furniture boxes are the coolest toy around!
3) The only way to keep your daughter semi-quiet and still, is when you pain her toenails :) Just tell her they are not dry :)
4) Wore my favorite shoes. Not the most comfortable, but the cutest pair I own.
5) Chicken Tikka Masala for dinner. Yummy!
6) Dessert
7) Read one more chapter while hubby made brownies
8) Movie Night!
9) Blogging about last week and getting another post semi-ready for this week :)
10) Looking for a few books for a giveaway with a bloggy friend
11) Giveaway books for Jen
12) Saturday Night Live while blogging (gotta love Will Ferrel!l)

Mother's Day Gifts and Favorite Read Alouds Linky

We finished our Mother's Day presents yesterday. Next week...  I promise to have a productive week :)
I went to Michael's and got some 2" key chains. The kids drew a teeny tiny portrait of their moms (front) and a cute You hold the key to my heart (back). You can download here.

Our final beauties looked like this:

We also did some writing after they completed a mom's questionnaire... wrote some sentences...drew another portrait and voila'.

Run! Ms. Nelson's Got the Camera and  is hosting her first linky party. Come and share your favorite read alouds!
Here are some of mine :)

My kids L-O-V-E when I read any of the Skippy JonJones books.  I get to use my 'real' Mexican accent and they tell me I sound "grrreat!

7 weeks to go!

My Brother's Birthday (freebie)

My baby brother turns 25 today!  This can only mean one thing... I am getting old.  I was a fourth grader when he was born.  He is finally graduating from law school this summer and that makes me a very proud sister!

:)      :)       :)      :)    Blog related topic :)  )      :)       :)      :)
I created a birthday book for my class.  Hope you can use it!  Download here.

I will be  back later this week to share how we celebrate birthdays in my classroom.
A while ago, I spotted a birthday linky party, and now I cannot find it :(    Let me know if you have seen it.

Thank You Notes - I Feel Loved Notes (Freebie)

Teacher Appreciation Week begins tomorrow.  Our amazing PTA is always coming up with super cool ways to show how much they appreciate our staff: free breakfast, lunch, books for our classroom libraries, sweets, cards, free hugs, wish list items...
I am running low on thank you notes, and I know I am going to need some this week. Hope you can use these.

I spent my morning shopping and taking advantage of the TPT sales.  While shopping, I wondered how I could possibly say thank you to all the sellers for all the freebies they offered today.  I did take the time to give feedback and left a quick message on their blogs.
Gracias, muchas gracias for working super hard for all your kids, and for being such an inspiration!
Teacher hugs to all of you!

May Currently and IKEA

Sorry for the double post.  Big no no...but I could not help myself :)  Farley is back with a great Ms. Pageant title.

Going to IKEA (Charlotte) this weekend.  Two hour drive + two kids + no hubby = one exhausted TK . I will be searching for my student's end of the year gifts.
Any IKEA lovers out there?  Have any IKEA goodies in your classroom?

Word Wall

Jen from The Teacher's Cauldron  and April from Wolfelicious are  hosting a word wall linky party.  I am looking for new ideas and especially for ways in which you guys use them in the classroom.  My kiddies seem to forget that is there.

It is a large bright red piece of felt which gets sprayed every year so the fire police man does not get me in trouble

I have all the words organized by week. One of my amazing teammates came up with a list.

Each envelope contains 10 words. Each word has a small piece of Velcro and the week's number.  That way when I need put them back, I easily know where they belong.

I need to find new ways to encourage my kids to use it more.
